Request a Dental Appointment – Boston, MA

For Referring Dentists

The Face Dental Group collaborates with dentists and specialists on complex implant, esthetic and full-arch cases that require advanced planning and interdisciplinary coordination. We welcome referrals and deeply appreciate the trust you place in us when you send a patient our way.

Your relationship with your patient comes first. Our team works closely with yours to make the transition seamless for the patient, and communication with your office is structured and timely, from the first consultation to the completion of treatment.

Referred cases are planned and led by Prof. Dr. Wael Att, a board-certified prosthodontist, former chair of prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, author of 170+ publications and co-developer of the STAR Concept with David Norré.

  • Complex-case referrals
  • Detailed reporting and co-management
  • FP1/FP3 and implant salvage expertise
  • Study club and continuing education

When to Refer

We see patients whose treatment calls for prosthodontic planning across several disciplines. Typical reasons for referral include the following. If you are unsure whether a case is a good fit, a planning consultation or case discussion is a sensible first step.

  • Full-arch rehabilitation, including FP1 / FP3 planning and immediate protocols such as the STAR Concept where appropriate.
  • Implant complications and revisions, where the cause needs to be identified before deciding on removal or replacement. If you have a complication or revision case, we are glad to review it.
  • High-smile-line esthetic cases, where tooth position, soft tissue and esthetic risk need careful planning.
  • Second opinions on an existing treatment plan.
  • Prosthetic redesign of restorations that are not meeting functional or esthetic goals.
  • Salvage planning for compromised implants or restorations.

What You Receive

After we have evaluated your patient, you receive a written report so that you understand our findings and the proposed approach. Depending on the case, this includes:

  • A diagnostic overview
  • Prosthetic classification
  • An esthetic and functional risk summary
  • Treatment pathways and the reasoning behind them
  • Surgical considerations
  • Provisionalization logic, when relevant

We also state clearly whether the patient returns to your practice for maintenance or restorative continuation, where appropriate. Our aim is co-management that respects your role in your patient’s ongoing care, with clear updates at the key stages of treatment so that you always know where your patient stands.

How to Send Records

Good records help us understand the case and the referral question. Useful materials include:

  • DICOM files from a recent CBCT scan
  • STL files from intraoral scans
  • Clinical photographs, including smile and facial views where available
  • A written summary of the referral question, relevant history and any treatment already completed

Please do not send patient records or imaging by email. Call (617) 236-5969 and our team will arrange a secure, HIPAA-compliant transfer.

Education and Professional Exchange

Our work with referring clinicians extends beyond individual cases. Dr. Att lectures internationally on implant dentistry, prosthodontics and digital workflows, and the practice supports continuing education for colleagues.

  • The Boston Study Club and our continuing education programs bring clinicians together around implant dentistry, digital workflows and full-arch rehabilitation. Current sessions are listed on the Boston Study Club website.
  • Dr. Att’s invited lectures cover topics including full-arch reconstruction, digital workflows and the management of implant complications.
  • Case-based interdisciplinary discussion gives referring dentists and specialists a shared framework for planning complex treatment.

Some patients travel to Boston specifically to see a specialist for complex cases. Whether your patient lives nearby or further away, we coordinate with your office throughout.
