Education and Professional Development

Education is a central part of The Face Dental Group and a natural extension of the clinical work done in our Boston practice. The same planning logic that guides our complex implant, esthetic and full-arch cases is taught to colleagues through study club sessions, private training, invited lectures and case-based discussion.

Our programs are led by Prof. Dr. Wael Att, a board-certified prosthodontist, former chair of prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, author of 170+ publications and co-developer of the STAR Concept with David Norré. He is also a Professor of Prosthodontics at the University of Freiburg, Germany, and has lectured in more than 40 countries.

An Active Program, Not a Biography

Many practices list a clinician’s academic history and stop there. Our aim is different. Education here is current and clinically grounded: the topics we teach are the problems we plan and treat, and the discussions are built around real decision points rather than theory alone.

Dr. Att’s academic background is documented on our Academic Authority pages. This page focuses on what colleagues can take part in now, and how education connects to the way we work with referring clinicians.

Program Types

Our education work takes several forms, so that clinicians can engage at the level that suits their practice and goals.

Boston Study Club sessions

The Boston Study Club brings clinicians together for structured sessions on implant dentistry, digital workflows and full-arch rehabilitation. The study club is one of the ways we share clinical thinking with colleagues. Continuing education programs may be offered in line with AGD PACE requirements. For the current schedule, topics and registration, please see the Boston Study Club website.

Private training

Some clinicians and teams prefer focused training on a specific part of their workflow, such as digital planning, prosthetic design or the management of full-arch cases. Private training can be discussed with our team on request.

Invited lectures

Dr. Att is an invited lecturer on implant dentistry, prosthodontics and digital dental workflows. He has delivered keynote addresses and hands-on continuing education courses in more than 40 countries across six continents, at meetings including those of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP). A summary of this work is available on our International Lectures page.

Interdisciplinary case-based discussion

Complex cases rarely belong to one discipline. Case-based discussion brings restorative dentists, surgeons and specialists to the same table, so that the prosthetic goal, the surgical plan and the long-term maintenance plan are considered together from the start.

Topic Clusters

Our teaching draws on the areas that make up most of our clinical work and Dr. Att’s research. Topics are grouped into these clusters:

Who Should Participate

Our programs are designed for clinicians who want to deepen their understanding of complex restorative and implant care, whatever their starting point.

Education and Referral Work Go Together

Education and referral work are closely linked. Shared education creates a shared language: when a referring dentist and our team think about a case in the same way, communication is clearer and the patient’s journey is smoother.

If you have a patient who would benefit from specialist planning, you can refer a case to our team. We respect your relationship with your patient and keep you informed throughout.

Dr. Att’s research and teaching also shape the care patients receive here. You can read more about that global authority and why some patients travel for complex treatment. Education is one part of a practice where education and patient care are closely connected.

We also welcome conversations with companies and organizations interested in sponsoring education events or building a longer-term professional partnership around our programs. Please contact our office to discuss what you have in mind.

Invite Dr. Att to Lecture

Study clubs, societies, universities and meeting organizers who would like Dr. Att to speak can contact our office to discuss topics, format and availability. To start the conversation, invite Dr. Att to lecture or call (617) 236-5969.
